Scientists Fear Robot Invasion!

Well, that is a bit sensational of a title. Nevertheless, the New York Times has this intriguing article about the current state of AI, and the fact that a few computer scientist are getting a little jittery about it. It seems that over the past 5 to 8 years, the state of AI has greatly improved, and will continue to improve over the next few decades–perhaps to the point that AIs eventually out-smart us, their creators. While I do not subscribe to the worst-case-scenario group, I would highly recommend anyone who is interested in this subject to read Ray Kurzweil’s The Singularity Is Near.
